Home Theatre & Dolby Atmos Package Calculator
Plan a complete surround-sound or Dolby Atmos home theatre for your room in minutes. Enter your room dimensions, choose a channel layout, and the calculator builds a full itemised package — speakers, AV receiver, subwoofer and cabling — with live pricing.
Designing a home theatre is mostly about matching the system to the room. A 12×15 ft living room and a dedicated 20×14 ft theatre need very different speaker counts, amplifier power and acoustic treatment. This tool does that matching for you, drawing on the same brands and models AudioShop supplies as an authorised dealer in Thane.
How the calculator works
The calculator runs in four short steps and updates the bill of materials in real time:
- Room & dimensions — length, width and ceiling height set the room volume and acoustic class.
- System shape — pick a channel layout (5.1, 5.1.2, 7.1.4 and more), an install style and a budget bracket.
- Brand recipe — choose a guided recipe, or switch to Build Your Own to hand-pick every model from the full catalogue.
- Bill of materials — a complete, itemised quote with discount, installation and cabling, ready to copy or download as a PDF.
Who it's for
Homeowners planning a first surround setup, enthusiasts upgrading to Atmos, and interior designers or AV contractors who need a fast, accurate package estimate for a client. Every price is from a live catalogue, so the figure you see is realistic — not a guess.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a home theatre system cost in India?
A complete home theatre in India typically ranges from about ₹80,000 for an entry-level 5.1 system to ₹6,00,000 or more for a reference 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos setup. The main cost drivers are the channel layout, the speaker brand and grade, and the AV receiver. Use the calculator above to get an itemised figure for your exact room and configuration.
What is the difference between 5.1, 5.1.2 and 7.1.4?
The first number is the count of ear-level speakers, the second is the subwoofer count, and the third (when present) is the number of height or ceiling speakers for Dolby Atmos. So 5.1 is five speakers plus a sub, 5.1.2 adds two Atmos speakers, and 7.1.4 has seven ear-level speakers, one sub and four height channels for the most immersive effect.
What size room do I need for a Dolby Atmos system?
Dolby Atmos works in most rooms, but the height channels need ceiling space to reflect or fire sound correctly. A 5.1.2 layout suits typical living rooms; a 7.1.4 reference system is best in a larger or dedicated room with a ceiling height of around 9 ft or more. The calculator flags when a configuration is a poor match for the room dimensions you enter.
Do I need an AV receiver, and how many channels?
Yes — the AV receiver powers the speakers and decodes the surround formats. Match the receiver's channel count to your layout: a 7-channel receiver for 5.1.2, and a 9 or 11-channel receiver for 7.1.4. The calculator selects a suitable receiver automatically, and in Build Your Own mode you can pick the exact model.
Can I mix speaker brands in one home theatre?
It is best to keep the front three speakers (left, centre, right) from the same brand and series for a seamless front soundstage. Surround and height speakers can sometimes differ. The calculator's Build Your Own mode lets you mix brands freely when a customer asks for a specific configuration.
What is the difference between floor-standing, bookshelf and in-wall speakers?
Floor-standing speakers deliver the most output and bass and suit larger rooms. Bookshelf speakers are compact and work on stands or shelves. In-wall and in-ceiling speakers are built into the structure for a clean, hidden look. The calculator adjusts the package — including speaker stands where needed — based on the install style you choose.
Does the quote include installation?
The bill of materials lists the hardware, and installation is shown as a separate adjustable line. AudioShop provides professional installation, calibration and acoustic advice in Thane and across the Mumbai region. Use the Request Quote button to get a formal quotation and arrange a site visit.
Are these the actual prices I will pay?
The calculator uses live catalogue MRP and applies a bundle discount, so the total is a realistic working estimate. The final quotation can vary with current offers, stock and any site-specific requirements. Contact AudioShop for a confirmed, formal quote.
